this is the worst book i’ve ever tried to read. a “friend” recommended it. this book is awful, i’d never recommend to my worst enemy. it is full of liberal propaganda, & is anti american. i’m just hoping not everyone really BELIEVES what they read.
there’s nothing in about diet. it is all against farmers, and it is political. there’s even a chapter about HOW WONDERFUL CLINTON IS but he was stopped by the REPUBLICANS …..
THIS BOOK IS DEPRESSING AND NOT AT ALL WHAT IT PROCLAIMS TO BE.

All in all I thought this book provides a great idea for how people should eat, but I did have a complaint.
The chapter about meat really rubbed me the wrong way. They had enough information to at least partially support all their arguments but for the most part it sounded like the angry rantings of rabid vegans. I hesitate to call it propaganda, but will say that it has some of the elements that propaganda has. I’ve always been taught that you attract more bees with sugar than vinegar and that chapter was almost pure vinegar! I’m not saying negative things because I’m a staunch meat eater and completely support the meat industry and their methods; the book was able to at least change a few of my opinions on meat even though I felt more like I was being attacked when I was reading it rather than trying to be persuaded.
However, the book, barring that one chapter, was certainly an interesting read and I definitely agreed with a large amount of what the authors had to say. I’ve been using a few of their ideas and am already starting to feel a little healthier!
If you don’t mind reading strong, pro-vegan literature, and would consider following the vegan lifestyle in an attempt to lose weight, this book is definitely a good one for you. If you want to change your diet to lose weight, don’t necessarily want to give up meat and dairy, but are willing to be somewhat flexible, this book is worth at least checking out. If there’s no way in Hades you’d ever give up meat and dairy, it’s probably best to pass on this one.

Pure propaganda for vegans. Veganism is also dangerous if you’re pregnant, or are nursing. A couple was just recently convicted and sentenced for murder of their 6 week old son who was on soy milk of all things!
And according to the FDA, which completely contradicts what these two are saying about Aspartame, here is their conclusion:
After reviewing scientific studies, FDA determined in 1981 that aspartame was safe for use in foods. In 1987, the General Accounting Office investigated the process surrounding FDA’s approval of aspartame and confirmed the agency had acted properly. However, FDA has continued to review complaints alleging adverse reactions to products containing aspartame. To date, FDA has not determined any consistent pattern of symptoms that can be attributed to the use of aspartame, nor is the agency aware of any recent studies that clearly show safety problems.
Buy a real diet book.

Bought it for the title and the buzz. Needed some inspiration for staying on track with nutrition and calories. Turned out to be a preachy pitch for veganism. Disappointed. I already know enough about vegan to be totally bored; didn’t like the distortion of facts and scare tactics; didn’t want to be inculcated. Best part of the book was the swear words :=)
