Product Description

The thrive diet is a long-term eating plan to help all athletes (professional or not) develop a lean body, sharp mind, and everlasting energy. As one of the few professional athletes on a plant-based diet, Brendan Brazier researched and developed this easy-to-follow program to enhance his performance as an elite endurance competitor.

Brazier clearly describes the benefits of nutrient-rich foods in their natural state versus processed foods, and how to choose nutritionally efficient, stress-busting whole foods for maximum energy and health. Featuring a 12-week meal plan, over 100 allergen-free recipes with raw food options—including recipes for energy gels, sport drinks, and recovery foods—and a complementary exercise plan, The Thrive Diet is “an authoritative guide to outstanding performance” (Neal D. Barnard, M.D., Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine).

While I LOVE the book, the product took FOREVER to ship!!!! It took the maximum amount of time they said it may take. I think in total it took 4 weeks to finally arrive. I find this rediculous and would have ordered the book for another seller had I known it would take so long to arrive!!

The concept is good and how hi marketed is just brilliant.

But he is now selling his own products what is not “natural” in of terms of eating fresh vegan food.

The second failure is that he is not tells nothing about B12 what is unforgivable for my point of view if you do such a book about proper nutrition and with analytical systems.

Personally I think that was a good way to cash in the yeas of training after he stopped.

Go to the [...] these guys doing much better job for 30 years or more.

    Good luck

Yet another ‘raw’ food book. There is no scientific evidence that a ‘raw’ food diet is any better than a mainly cooked plant based diet.

Some good points about the book:

    - some good recipes, especially dips, smoothies and snacks

    - good chapter explaining the different types of grains and why we should eat them

    - good writeup about various kinds of superfoods

    Bad points:

    - an excessive amount of mentions of his ‘products’

    - recommendation to use coconut oil, coconut oil is still highly controversial. An athelete like MR Brazier may be able to easily burn off all the calories in coconut oil but for most non-athletic types, the calories will be turned straight into fat.

This book makes good sense and generally provides good advise. The most interesting points to me as an athlete and a vegetarian were about how eating raw food helps with the recovery time, what kind of foods best to eat before and after exercise. He has some interesting recipes for energy bars and shakes. However, there was too much self advertising – gets to be very annoying. Lots of “facts” that are unsupported by any evidence. And I found it to be not very well organized.

Great nutrition plan for athletes. You can build with this plan. Great info for everyone.
